Brave Minds Delivers First Online Therapy Session

Firefighter in Kharkiv October 2024

This week, Brave Minds officially delivered the first online therapy session of its new Brave Minds mental health support programme for Ukrainian firefighters.

The brave men and women of the State Emergency Services of Ukraine continue to serve on the frontlines, facing daily dangers amidst the ongoing conflict. Understanding the immense psychological strain they endure, FIRE AID created Brave Minds to offer vital mental health care and well-being support.

The inaugural session was led by Viktoriia, our programme’s lead psychologist who said, “It’s so exciting to start delivering sessions and hearing how just talking to someone and listening to their problems can have such a positive impact on their feelings. After the session, I feel so inspired and feel how important our work is. I know it will help a lot of Firefighters.”

Designed specifically for emergency responders operating under crisis conditions, Brave Minds offers Ukrainian firefighters a safe space to talk about their feelings without fear of it impacting their jobs.

With this successful first step, FIRE AID is committed to expanding the programme, bringing psychological support to more firefighters across Ukraine as they continue their life-saving work.
